Uses

Tapentadol is used tohelp relieve moderate to severe short-term pain (such as pain from an injury orafter surgery). It belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid (narcotic)analgesics. It works in the brain to change how your body feels andresponds to pain.

How to use TapentadolTablet

Readthe Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before youstart taking tapentadol and each time you get a refill. If you have anyquestions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this medicationby mouth as directed by your doctor. You may take this drug with orwithout food. If you have nausea, it may help to take this drug with food.Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways todecrease nausea (such as lying down for 1 to 2 hours with as littlehead movement as possible).

Nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness,or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell yourdoctor or pharmacist promptly.

To preventconstipation, eat a diet adequate in fiber, drink plenty of water,and exercise. Consult your pharmacist for help in selectinga laxative (such as a stimulant type with stool softener).
